Lowongan FFI - Orangutan /Primate Specialist

The overall goal is the conservation of priority orangutan and primate populations and their habitat in Kalimantan, specifically in the districts of Ketapang,Kapuas Hulu West Kalimantan and Murung Raya Central Kalimantan The project purpose is a conservation status review of the orangutan population in West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan to respond to immediate forest conservation plans and to secure critical orangutan habitat through integrating recommendations of this review into the district spatial plans and forest management plans.


Orangutan/Primate Specialist

She/he undertakes HCVF field surveys, in close collaboration with senior botanists and senior biologists, using standard methods for biological survey and landscape-level HCVF assessment. Collaborate with GIS expert, spatial planning and field project coordinator to provide input to the spatial plans specialist.

Working area : Kapuas Hulu,Ketapang West Kalimantan and Murung Raya, Central kalimantan, Indonesia
Duration: 12 month, with possible extension
Reports to: Kapuas Hulu, Ketapang and Murung Raya Conservation

Detailed job description
* Prepare standard approach and methodologies for biodiversity surveys – especially orangutan survey;
* Undertake orangutan survey with additional other mammals survey as necessary during HCVF assessment;
* Prepare scientific reports in English & Indonesian;
* Provide input to the development of biodiversity and GIS database; and
* Undertake other tasks assigned by the Project Team Leader and/or FFI Program Director.

Qualifications
* Graduate/post graduate degree in Conservation Biology or related fields;
* 3 years experience, preferably in Kalimantan;
* Able to work both independently or as part of a team; and communication, interpersonal and organization skills
